The Installation Week: How a German Kitchen Arrives

Most kitchen regret in India isn’t about the kitchen — it’s about the installation: the month of dust, the carpenter camped in the hallway, the “small adjustments” that never quite end. The German model exists to delete that experience, and understanding how is the best late-stage due diligence a buyer can do.

What arrives on the truck

This is the part that surprises first-time buyers: the cabinets arrive finished. Each unit was glued, doweled and pressed in Rödinghausen as rigid factory furniture, inspected, then wrapped and containered — not as panels and a bag of screws, but as the actual cabinets, fronts hung, drawers running. Your kitchen crosses the ocean already being itself.

Why there’s nothing to “make” at your home

Because the kitchen was built against a measured drawing — your site, checked and re-checked, planned in Häcker’s own system against factory rules — installation is assembly of a solved puzzle, not carpentry. No cutting boards to size on your balcony, no sawdust in the bedrooms, no improvisation where a wall turned out crooked (the drawing already knew).

The practical difference: a full kitchen installs in days, not weeks, and the installers are factory-trained teams working with the manufacturer’s own fittings — the same hands that have hung a thousand Häcker doors, not whoever the contractor could spare.

The last five percent

Watch a factory-trained installer finish a kitchen and you’ll see where the money quietly went: doors aligned to the millimetre so every gap reads as one continuous line; drawers adjusted until a fingertip closes forty kilos; plinths scribed to the floor’s real profile; appliances — the ovens, the integrated dishwasher, the refrigeration columns — commissioned and demonstrated, not just left in their housings. Then the handover walk: every mechanism shown, every question answered, and the care rituals explained before the team leaves.

What the owner does

Surprisingly little, and it’s mostly calendar work: the site should be ready (flooring done, electrical and plumbing points as per the drawing — your planner provides that spec early), and someone senior at home for handover day. That’s the list.

The whole journey — showroom to drawing to Rödinghausen to your first meal — is walked step-by-step on our kitchens page, and the finished article stands live in every showroom: open the drawers hard, and imagine that feel arriving at your address intact. That’s the promise the installation week keeps.
